Its inside the castle walls, on the top of the hill. The signage is not that good inside the walls of the castle, there are a number of buildings, and if it is pouring rain (not unlikely) it is easy to miss the entrance if you are under an umbrella or trying to keep dry. Our experience is that you need the better part of a day to thoroughly explore the entire castle, especially if you come during the summertime when there are serious crowds.
