River Safaris & Gulf Charters was incorporated in 1982 but was in operation for about 4 years prior to that date. The river tour business was, in the beginning, simply set up to take people out to a restaurant called the Crow's Nest, located on an island at the mouth of the Homosassa River on the Gulf of Mexico. Even though the the restaurant has been closed for many years the river tour business has thrived on the Homosassa River. River Safaris went on to develop historically narrated tours, manatee swim and viewing trips, airboat rides and we have performed many marriages on our tour boats.
