Antoni, President Donald Trump’s pick to lead the Bureau of Labor Statistics, is no longer considering suspending the monthly jobs report — one of the most crucial and historic measurements of US economic activity — after proposing the unprecedented action during an interview that published Tuesday.

Antoni has become a fixture on conservative talk radio and podcasts — including Steve Bannon’s “War Room” — and frequently pens pro-Trump commentary.

The job cuts align with reduced activity across sectors amid trade uncertainty, experts said. Semiconductors, automotive, machinery, beverage, tobacco and leather manufacturing collectively lost more than 2,
