WADA, world sport’s anti-doping body, will not appeal against the one-month doping sanction levied against tennis world No 2 Iga Swiatek. The Pole recorded a positive test for the banned substance trimetazidine (TMZ) in August.

World No. 2 and five-time Grand Slam champion Iga Swiatek opened up about her recent one-month doping ban for a positive drug test, describing it as the most challenging period of her tennis career. Speaking on the eve of the Australian Open, Swiatek shared that the ordeal was “pretty chaotic” and labeled it the “worst time” of her life.

In a statement released on Monday WADA confirmed its decision not to lodge an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport and confirmed that, following a review, Swiatek's explanation for contamination was "plausible".

Iga Swiatek says she can get "a closure" now that the WADA won't appeal the ITIA's ruling in her doping case but also underlines that she expected this outcome all along. While the world No. 2 was on the court playing against Eva Lys at the Australian Open, the WADA announced that they would not lodge an appeal and take her case to the CAS.
