Filipina teenager Alexandra Eala’s fairytale run at this year’s Miami Open has come to an end after the teenager lost to US star Jessica Pegula – 7-6 (3), 5-7, 6-3 – in the semifinals on Thursday.

Eala nearly pulled off yet another hard-to-fathom upset in her semis match against Pegula on Thursday night at Hard Rock Stadium.

No. 4 seed Jessica Pegula avoided being added to Alexandra Eala's impressive Miami win list but afterward admitted that she had all but an easy job and had only words of praise for the rising Filipina after completing a 7-6 (3) 5-7 6-3 win.
