Chinese President Xi Jinping invited Prime Minister Mark Carney to visit China as the pair met on the sidelines of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in South Korea on Friday.

“We had a discussion on foreign interference,” Carney told reporters Saturday before leaving the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation forum in Gyeongju, South Korea.

Japan would be spending two percent of gross domestic product on defence this fiscal year -- two years ahead of schedule.
