Tottenham fans have swarmed social media to slam one star for their performance against Newcastle, as Spurs lost 2-0.

The Tyneside club claimed their first domestic silverware in 70 years last season when they beat Liverpool in the final at Wembley. They can expect a stiff test from Spurs tonight, though.

Tottenham exited the Carabao Cup with a whimper on Wednesday night as they were beaten 2-0 by Newcastle at St James’ Park. Thomas Frank made the trip to the north-east without 11 first-team players but still named a fairly strong squad for the match.

Pedro Porro was forced to order both Djed Spence and Randal Kolo Muani over to Tottenham’s away supporters at St James’ Park. In the aftermath of their defeat on Tyneside, the pair were spotted heading straight down the tunnel, before the Spaniard intervened and forced them back out.

Newcastle United have been boosted by the presence of Sven Botman ahead of their Carabao Cup clash with Tottenham Hotspur at St James’ Park. Botman started the win over Fulham on Saturday, but left the field of play early after being injured as Sasa Lukic nodded home Fulham’s equaliser.
