Social Security's May payment schedule is normal for most recipients. But Supplemental Security Income beneficiaries will get two checks this month.

Some Social Security recipients will receive two payments in May. More than 7.4 million recipients of Supplemental Security Income, administered by the Social Security Administration, will be paid Thursday, May 1 and then again on Friday, May 30. The second May payment is due to June 1 – the regular payment date- falling on a Sunday.

Rules state that if the first of the month falls on a holiday or weekend, the Supplemental Security Income checks are delivered the previous weekday. Therefore, SSI recipients will get one check on May 1 and another on May 30. This also means they will not receive a check in the actual month of June.
