A cartel planted an improvised explosive device that killed a 74-year-old Texas rancher and another individual, authorities said.

A child in West Texas has died of measles, state health officials said on Wednesday, the first reported U.S. death from the highly contagious disease in a decade, as a Texas outbreak has grown from a handful of cases to more than 130 across two states.

The measles outbreak in rural West Texas has grown to 90 cases across seven counties and 16 people are hospitalized

Texas reported 90 cases this week, while New Mexico reported nine. A majority of the cases have been in a Texas county where vaccination rates have lagged behind the rest of the state.
