The early betting line for Penn State-Ohio State is out: How big of a favorite is No. 1 OSU?
Penn State’s Big Ten matchup with Ohio State loomed as the biggest regular-season game in the conference at the beginning of the season. After starting 3-0, the Nittany Lions lost four consecutive games heading into its second bye week, the last one a 25-24 defeat to Iowa on Saturday at Kinnick Stadium.
A double-overtime loss to the Oregon Ducks in State College was followed by a disastrous road trip to face the UCLA Bruins. This past weekend, the Nittany Lions were a three-touchdown favorite and faltered at home to the Northwestern Wildcats, marking the lasting image in the Franklin era.
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State coach Ryan Day has his team unbeaten and headed into the final five games of the season at 7-0. Up next, though, is a much-needed bye week after three road games in four weeks. The Buckeyes will pick back up with a game against Penn State on Nov. 1.

The Ohio State Buckeyes will face Penn State in their next game, but this matchup is not as meaningful as it once looked.

Let’s start with a positive. It was encouraging to see Penn State fight for 60 minutes in a 25-24 loss to Iowa on Saturday night at Kinnick Stadium. During his press conference a week ago after being named interim head coach at Penn State,
Penn State’s offense is coming off a 17-point, 266-yard showing against Iowa. However, Grunkemeyer was 15-for-28 passing for a season-low 93 yards and two interceptions. Of Smith’s positive takeaways from the loss, one was the run game, led by Kaytron Allen’s career-high 145 yards.
