One person was taken to the hospital after a police chase ended with the suspect crashing into a Sacramento home Friday evening, police said.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento Police Department says it’s facing a staffing crisis and is now turning to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office for help.

An 18-year-old was arrested in the Meadowview homicide; police booked Davian Sida on homicide-related charges.

The reason is a shortage of officers. The Sacramento Police Department doesn’t have the staffing to fulfill the $2.1 million deal with the Natomas Unified School District, the newspaper reported. The contract began Aug. 1. The department was providing four officers to the 16-campus district.

The Sacramento Police Department is asking for the community’s help in finding a missing, at-risk 78-year-old woman. SPD said that Betty Robison was last seen around 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday in the 4700 block of Elvas Avenue.

The rundown: City officials unanimously approved buying AI software from Axon, a technology company that sells Tasers, drones and other equipment to police departments across the country. The city plans to spend $1 million over four years for Axon’s products, including a controversial AI application that writes police reports.
