Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso remained vague about his future at the club on Friday amid a report that the reigning Bundesliga champions are closing in on an agreement with Erik ten Hag should Alonso leave in summer.

Xabi Alonso kept his cards close to his chest when questioned about his future as Bayer Leverkusen boss as the Spaniard on Friday declined to comment on reports linking him to the Real Madrid job.

However, there have been no concrete talks with Ten Hag himself. Leverkusen, however, has gathered crucial information and has been checking various coaches and their availability for days. This includes Imanol Alguacil of Real Sociedad San Sebastián.
