The former leader of Britain's Labour Party, Jeremy Corbyn, announced on Friday he was in talks to start a new political party because Prime Minister Keir Starmer's government had "refused to deliver the change" voters expected during its first year in office.

Jeremy Corbyn has confirmed plans to build a new political party as an alternative to Sir Keir Starmer’s Labour, on the first anniversary of the prime minister’s landslide general election victory. The former Labour leader’s comments came a day after the MP Zarah Sultana announced plans to “co-lead the founding of a new party” with him.

Suspended Labour MP Zarah Sultana has announced she is starting a new party with Sultana, stripped of the Labour whip last year for backing a move to scrap the two-child benefit cap, said she was resigning from the party after 14 years of membership.
