After Tropical Storm Chantal made landfall in South Carolina over the Fourth of July weekend, the tropics are now quiet. Well, sort of. About 24 hours after landfall, Chantal is now a tropical depression, as it wanders across Virginia.

Tropical Storm Chantal became the first named storm of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season to hit the United States after it made landfall in South Carolina early Sunday. It isn’t a major threat to land.

Impacts of Chantal are being felt across the region, with rain falling across eastern Florida and up to Delaware.
