Irvine-based Rivian Automotive recorded its first-ever quarterly gross profit to close out 2024, achieving a long-held goal even as it warned that policy shifts in Washington may weigh on its electric-vehicle sales this year.

Rivian reported $170 million in positive gross profits, which includes production and sales but does not factor in other expenses, for the three-month period that ended December 3

The electric automaker Rivian said Thursday it’s recorded its first quarterly gross profit even as the company braces for potential U.S. policy changes on incentives, tariffs and regulations that could bring “hundreds of million of dollars” in financial impact.

The Rivian R1S and R1T have just received their first limited edition. The start up calls it the California Dune and it surely looks ready for sand dunes
