The largest U.S. federal appeals court is closing its courthouse in Pasadena, California for the next week and shifting to hearing previously-scheduled arguments there remotely in light of the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles County.

In separate lawsuits, Benjamin Crump and the NAACP are going after Southern California Electric on behalf of Eaton fire victims.

Fires across the Los Angeles area have killed at least 25 people. The Palisades and Eaton fires continue to burn in Southern California.

Los Angeles Fire Chief Kristin Crowley said that the fire department has deployed all available resources and positioned fire patrols and engines in high-risk areas across Los Angeles.

More than 10,000 structures across Los Angeles County have been reduced to ashes as wildfires continue to blaze across parts of Southern California.

The fires in Los Angeles are almost out. Residents are starting to trickle back into their burned-out neighborhoods. When they get to their houses, they face a series of almost impossible questions: Do we want to live here amongst all this destruction?

That parking lot would later become the staging ground for firefighters battling the Eaton Fire blaze. He felt confident that the evacuation was due to smoke. Pasadena had never burned, and he did not feel very concerned.

Before rebuilding, a two-phase clean-up process must take place. The first, which involves FEMA and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency removing hazardous waste is underway. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will lead the second and more large scale effort of debris removal.
