Oregonians registering to vote must sign a statement swearing they are a U.S. citizen who is eligible to vote. Under Oregon’s 2016 Motor Voter law, people who obtain or renew a driver’s license are automatically registered to vote if they submit proof of U.S. citizenship.

The Oregon Secretary of State's Office announced an update to the state's online voter registration form on Tuesday, saying the change will maintain election security while broadening access to the ballot box for eligible voters.

Petitioners officially submitted enough signatures for the gas tax, payroll tax, and vehicle registration tax increases signed into law by the governor to go on the ballot next year.
