With all votes in Idaho counted, Republicans are set to increase their supermajority in the Idaho Legislature by three seats. Winners in Idaho’s 35 legislative districts will earn seats at the Idaho Capitol next year, where they will control the purse strings on billions of dollars and have the authority to write laws.

State Republicans will have supermajorities, or two-thirds control, in the Iowa House and Senate this upcoming legislative session, after initial election results show the party flipping multiple seats.

As part of Tuesday’s conservative red wave, Republicans were poised to expand their supermajority in the Idaho Legislature based on unofficial results from the 2024 general election.
