New York is looking to acquire a starting second baseman with the Padres' Arraez and the Dodgers' Lux emerging as top trade candidates.

Though they reportedly have had talks about a potential deal for Luis Arreaz, the Yankees also have inquired about a swap for left-handed slugger Gavin Lux with the Los Angeles Dodgers, according to Jeff Passan of ESPN.

The New York Yankees were predicted to lose the free agency sweepstakes of Roki Sasaki to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The New York Yankees certainly haven't been afraid to make a trade this offseason. After losing Juan Soto to the New York Mets, the Yankees have pulled off two major trades. The Yankees acquired former Most Valuable Player Cody Bellinger from the Chicago Cubs and All-Star closer Devin Williams from the Milwaukee Brewers.

Second base is virtually the only position that the New York Yankees have yet to address with the 2025 campaign in mind. You can count left-handed relief pitching if you want, but they have so many right-handed changeup artists in their bullpen that having lefties hardly matters.

The New York Yankees infield will look very different in 2025. They have added Paul Goldschmidt and lost Gleyber Torres. They could still make another addition. Regardless, one of their starters from 2024 will be playing elsewhere.
