The Kansas Jayhawks played their best game of the season Monday night in Allen Fieldhouse, upsetting No. 1-ranked Arizona 82-78 to extend their win streak to eight games. And they did it all without star freshman Darryn Peterson, who was out due to flu-like symptoms, a KU spokesperson said shortly before the game.

“Crazy environment,” Arizona center Motiejus Krivas said. “The crowd is like their sixth player. It’s really hard to play here.”

No. 9 Kansas delivered an 82-78 upset win over No. 1 Arizona on Monday at Allen Fieldhouse. The Jayhawks handed the Wildcats their first loss of the season despite star guard Darryn Peterson being ruled out less than 30 minutes before tipoff due to flu-like symptoms.

A mediocre Utah team (13-11, 5-8 entering the game) tripped the the Jayhawks 74-67 on Feb. 15, 2025 at Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City. BYU (17-8, 8-6 entering the game) completed the sweep by annihilating the Jayhawks 91-57 on Feb. 18 at Marriott Center in Provo.

Although Kansas will host Arizona in the iconic Allen Fieldhouse tomorrow, the Jayhawks opened as rare home underdogs against the Wildcats.
