Neuralink is the high tech company backed by billionaire businessman Elon Musk. The program is designed for patients with paralysis because of spinal cord injuries or people with ALS, otherwise known as Lou Gherig’s Disease. Neuralink selected the Miami School of Medicine as its second site to conduct clinical trials on the innovative idea.

Elon Musk’s Neuralink has selected Miami as a clinical trial site for its brain-computer interface. Musk’s Neuralink makes devices that link the human brain to computers, focusing on giving people with quadriplegia or paralysis the ability to control computers and devices with their thoughts.

The university will become the second U.S.-based site for Neuralink's Precise Robotically Implanted Brain-Computer Interface (PRIME) study.
