On Tuesday, the NFL sent a memo out to its teams stating that the league is banning ammonia inhalants, colloquially known as smelling salts, effective immediately. While 49ers star Fred Warner was being interviewed live on NFL Network, Kittle barged in to effectively break the news about the new ban — and have his version of Festivus in August.

Star San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle thought about walking away from the league with the new rule that bans players from using ammonia packets and smelling salts during games, on the sideline or in the locker room. " I considered retirement ," Kittle said. "We have to figure out a middle ground.”

“Our team got a memo today that smelling salts and ammonia packets were made illegal in the NFL and I’ve been distraught all day,” Kittle lamented, revealing he uses smelling salts before every offensive drive.
