The “neediest among us” will suffer due to a new Supreme Court decision, according to Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson’s dissent from the ruling. Joined by Justice Sonia Sotomayor, Jackson said Congress can fix the issue.

The newest member of the Supreme Court addressed what she described as the "elephant in the room" during a judicial conference in Puerto Rico.

"The threats and harassment are attacks on our democracy, on our system of government," Justice Jackson said. "And they ultimately risk undermining our Constitution and the rule of law."
