The NOLA Reggae Festival will pivot to present a Jamaica Benefit Dinner on Tuesday (Oct. 28) at Paradigm Gardens in Central City (1131 S. Rampart St.). Tickets are $100 and all-inclusive. One hundred percent of the proceeds are set for Jamaica hurricane relief.
The cancellation over the weekend gave festival organizer Hitchcock an idea. The pivot comes as historic Hurricane Melissa bears down on the Caribbean Island nation.
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — “Surviving Katrina” is currently on display at The Tate Etienne and Prevost Center. It’s an exhibition by the artist Ted Ellis that shows the fortitude of New Orleans 20 years later after Hurricane Katrina’s impact.
After tornado warnings were issued for Lafourche, Tangipahoa and Jefferson Parishes around 6 a.m., the National Weather Service allowed those warnings to expire by 6:45 a.m. as the intensity of the storm waned.
