A new poll shows Democratic candidate Mikie Sherrill with a multipoint advantage over her Republican rival Jack Ciattarelli in the race to be New Jersey's next governor. According to the A2 Insights online poll of 812 likely voters in the state, 51.4 percent said they would back Sherrill, over 46.5 percent who said they were behind Ciattarelli.
The policy lays out guidelines on gay and transgender students' rights and has been in the manuals of nearly all the state’s school districts since a law signed in 2017 by Republican Gov. Chris Christie. The policy says school staff members are not required to inform parents about a child's gender identity without the child’s consent.
