Rafael Devers chaffed at the idea of switching to first base in the middle of the season in Boston. Yet, just two days after he was traded by the Red Sox to the San Francisco Giants, Devers expressed rare openness.
Devers was introduced alongside Giants legend and president of baseball operations Buster Posey, and with Barry Bonds in attendance.
The Giants, of course, obtained Devers as part of a five-player trade with the Boston Red Sox on Sunday night. That trade was seemingly precipitated by Devers' refusal to take up first base following Triston Casas ' season-ending injury.
Devers reportedly took issue with Kristian Campbell offering to take up a position change after he declined to do so.
Baltimore Orioles slugger Ryan O'Hearn made sure to give a quick thanks to Boston Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow for indirectly boosting his 2025 MLB All-Star bid.
