A 3.6-magnitude earthquake struck near the Fillmore area in Ventura County, according to the USGS.
On Saturday, a 3.6-magnitude earthquake jolted the Ventura County area, specifically near Fillmore, California, at approximately 5:03 p.m. This seismic event, registered by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), occurred at a depth of nearly 7 miles and had its epicenter located about 8 miles northwest of Fillmore.
The clusters of earthquakes have all been underneath the East Bay suburb of San Ramon, which is close to the Calaveras fault. There were at least 19 earthquakes of magnitude 2 or greater on Monday alone.
The federal government and earthquake experts blamed a technical glitch for the alert that sent warnings hundreds of miles away last week.
The earthquake occurred around 3:30 p.m., with its epicenter located approximately 3 miles west of Glen Ellen. While the magnitude of 4.0 may seem moderate, it is significant enough to be felt by residents in the vicinity.
