Tricia Tuttle has scored big studio films, including Bong Joon-Ho's 'Mickey 17' and Richard Linklater's 'Blue Moon,' for her first Berlinale. But she wants the cinema, not politics, to be center stage.

Richard Linklater's new feature about a Broadway composer, a documentary about young people in war-torn Ukraine and a homage to 1960s' spy films were among the films unveiled on Tuesday as part of the 2025 Berlin Film Festival's competition line-up.

This year’s festival will mark the debut of new artistic director Tricia Tuttle, who previously helmed the BFI London Film Festival. As previously announced, the fest will open with Tom Tykwer’s “The Light,” the German director’s return to the big screen after seven years and four seasons working on the hit series “Babylon Berlin.”

The upcoming Berlin International Film Festival will include films from directors Richard Linklater, Michel Franco and Hong Sang Soo in the competition for the festival's top prize, the Golden Bear, the organizers said on Tuesday.
