Following the Pahalgam attack, India has taken several actions against Pakistan. India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty and closed the Wagah-Attari border. Diplomatic ties were downgraded, and Pakistani diplomats were declared persona non grata.

Ties between India and Pakistan plummeted following the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir that killed 26 people on April 22, in the deadliest attack in the Valley since the Pulwama strike in 2019.

Pakistan Army posts resorted to unprovoked small arms fire across the LoC in areas opposite Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Rajauri, Mendhar, Naushera, Sunderbani, and Akhnoor in J&K. Indian Army responded promptly and proportionately.
