Spectators bundled up on one of the chilliest days so far this winter for the annual MLK Dream Big Parade on Monday to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., an icon in the fight for civil rights. Marching bands from local and visiting schools put on a show as they paraded from east to west toward Tropicana Field.

The life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. will once again be celebrated and honored Monday in events around the nation.

For newly-minted Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins, who was sworn in Monday, Jan. 6, Martin Luther King Day holds special significance. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "unshakable commitment to justice, equality and non violence changed the course of history," Jenkins said in a news release.
