The fire was reported at Ted Williams Parkway at Pomerado Road early Monday afternoon.  People were being asked to evacuate in the area of Wilsey Way.

Fire crews were able to stop the forward progress of a 3-acre brush fire in Poway — dubbed the Ted Williams Fire — that broke out just after 1 p.m. Monday near a hiking trail by the intersection of Ted Williams Pkwy and Pomerado Road, just behind the Poway Fire Department Station 3.

Cal Fire, the Poway Fire Department and San Diego Fire-Rescue converged on the blaze, which had reached 3 acres in size and threatened nearby structures before forward progress was reported to have been stopped around 3 p.

U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday signed an executive order that he said aims to restore freedom of speech and end censorship, drawing fire from critics who point to his past actions threatening and suing journalists,

The North County Fire Protection District said a total of 86 residents have been displaced by the evacuation orders and at least two structures have been damaged.
