Here's what ex-UConn women's basketball star Paige Bueckers said after her 19-point game in the Dallas Wings' loss to the Seattle Storm.

Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi are two icons who both sported the slick back hairstyles during their playing days, and Bueckers knows that she has some pretty lofty expectations to live up to. "Really, Sue and Dee were like huge slick back women," Bueckers said. "And so I feel like they’ve sort of passed the torch. But yeah, huge shoes for sure."

Satou Sabally and Alyssa Thomas were impressive in their Phoenix debut, leading the Mercury over the Seattle Storm in each team's WNBA opener.

Nneka Ogwumike scored 23 points and grabbed 19 rebounds and Skylar Diggins scored 21 points and distributed nine assists and Seattle held off Dallas in the second half to beat the Wings 79-71 on Monday night.

Throughout her career, Bueckers has been a winner. She's looking to take the Wings to being a championship contender throughout her tenure with the team. In her final year under Geno Auriemma at UConn, Bueckers led the Huskies to a national championship.
