Our Board of County Commissioners have declared February 17 to 24 as "Florida Cracker Trail Ride Week" in Manatee County. Named so because of the sounds of their cracking whips, Florida Crackers historically used the Cracker Trail for cattle drives. Each year, The Florida Cracker Trail Association recreates this historic ride along its original route, starting on State Road 64 in Bradenton and ending in Fort Pierce.
