Carreg CENNEN in Carmarthenshire has to be one of the coolest castles in the country. Its position and aspect could not be more dramatic. And the views in every direction are to die for. Its history also makes this place every bit as interesting as it is beautiful. The castle on the site today was built around 1283 by a Marcher Lord called John Giffard. The one which stood here prior to that swapped hands back and fore between Welsh and Norman lords like a ping-pong ball. All the way back to Rhy
