Naturalistic planting takes into account whatever plant looks like in all four seasons. Leave those seed heads on your flowers and incorporate them into your design. Those seeds are food for birds, and we have lost a tremendous amount of the Byrd population in recent decades so the more we can leave food for them the more we can help them recover as a population.
